Big Creek Winery West is open for tastings of its selection of grape and fruit wines. The West location is a wine tasting room and Big Creek Winery is in Pulaski, just east of Lawrenceburg. The Winery is named in honor of a substantial tributary of Richland Creek, a navigable waterway that intersects the large southern Middle Tennessee county. Big Creek Winery is owned by Billy Brymer, a Giles County native who grew up along the waters of Big Creek.
He credits a serendipitous meeting with Sam Duncan, and his wife Nell, while dining in Lawrence County. The couple pulled out unlabeled bottles of the most beautiful wine Billy had ever seen, and he could not resist introducing himself to the couple to find out if they had made it. Once Sam was satisfied that Billy’s motives were pure, he extended an offer to mentor Billy in winemaking.
One of the wines featured in the photos is named after Sam, himself. With great respect and affection, the Red Muscadine honors him. He generously and patiently taught Billy and his team to coax, not just the juice, but the soul from the grapes they use in winemaking. Bold and rich, the Red Muscadine and the vintner Sam Duncan have more than a name in common.
Stop by Big Creek Winery West to taste some of their local wines and visit with their team! They are located on the Downtown Square in Lawrenceburg.
