About
Wilburn Mill—also known as the historic G.T. Wilburn Grist Mill—is a beautifully preserved early-19th‑century water‑powered mill that sits in the timeless Fall River community of Lawrence County. Originally built in 1823 and rebuilt after Civil War destruction, it served for over a century as a vital hub—grinding grain, housing a general store, hosting elections, and even boxing matches—thus anchoring community life. The Wilburn family has stewarded the property since 1914, adding a dam, millpond, and evolving the site into one of Tennessee’s most significant historic estates spanning roughly 70 acres.
Today, Wilburn Mill is a cultural gem and event venue—hosting “Music at the Mill,” crafts fairs, and other community gatherings that celebrate both its industrial heritage and its continuing role in Lawrence County’s cultural life.
